What's up with dance music

• A whole lot of new Baltimore Club music is in the air, including, most significantly, this week's release of Say Wut's (pictured) latest, The Clarion Bang EP, on the European label Top Billin' Records. Also out recently: DJ Pierre's For the Streetz Part 1 mix (released for free download via his Twitter, @djpierreonline), and DJ Juwan's similarly titled Club for the Streets Vol. 1.

• This week, DJs Schwarz and Mark Brown (both founders of the popular Deep in the Game party) are taking over the 1910 N. Charles St. complex that comprises the venues the Crown and Gold Bar on March 29. The event, "Club Mnemonic: Spring Break Rager Edition," will present a wide variety of dance music and Baltimore Club in a cyber-punk-inspired environment, with DJ sets by 92Q's own DJ AngelBaby, James Nasty, members of the band Chiffon, and more.

• This week's Bass Nation Baltimore will be headlined by Belgian drum 'n' bass producer Netsky at Baltimore Soundstage. The same venue will also host Markus Schulz, a German trance DJ, on April 18 as a stop on the current North American tour in support of his new album, Scream 2.

• Over the last few years, French filmmaker and music lover Tim Moreau has flown out to the States a few times to shoot footage for a documentary about Baltimore Club music. Baltimore, Where You At?, a 51-minute film, is now finished, with illuminating interviews from many local DJs and producers, and is awaiting its public unveiling. Stay tuned for news about it hitting the internet and possibly being screened locally.
