The city's murder pace continues well above last year's, including two victims over 50 (one beaten to death by a crowd, one stabbed to death downtown) over Labor Day weekend. Homicide detectives are also investigating the death of a 3-month-old baby whose father reportedly found him unresponsive two hours after putting him on the bed with him at 8 a.m. on Aug. 27.
Wednesday, Aug. 28
10:15 p.m. Police got a call for gunshots fired at the corner of Ruxton and Westwood avenues in Coppin Heights. There they found Delmonte Thomas, a 20-year-old African-American man from the 3900 block of Liberty Heights Avenue, shot several times. He died at a hospital about a half-hour later. Soon after, someone walked into Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to the buttocks. Police learned that this person was a second victim of the same shooting.
Thursday, Aug. 29
5:02 a.m. Police found the body of Joseph Flint, a 50-year-old African-American man, stabbed multiple times on the 200 block of West Lombard Street.
Sunday, Sept. 1
11:21 p.m. A 27-year-old man, who police have not yet further identified, was shot in the right arm while on the 1100 block of Whitelock Street in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood. He died a short time later at the hospital.
Monday, Sept. 2
2:28 a.m. Police got a call about shots fired on the 2500 block of Edgecomb Circle, which is also Edgecomb Park. There they found an African-American man unresponsive. He had been shot several times. He was pronounced dead a half-hour later at a hospital, and police have not yet released his identity.
7:20 p.m. Donald Robinson, a 52-year-old African-American man, was beaten by several men and women on the 800 block of Lennox Street in Reservoir Hill. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:06 p.m.
