Though you might have seen them a month ago at 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., Animal Collective fans from Maine to Michigan will have to wait a little longer to catch the Baltimore-based experimental rock group. In a statement released today, band members Avey Tare, Deakin, Geologist, and Panda Bear apologetically announced that they would have to cancel all seven of their July tour dates, citing an illness that has apparently kept the band from performing with their usual vim and vigor. If you feel like you're experiencing deja vu, it's because these dates are not the first to be nixed since the release of Centipede Hz: These cancelled July dates are themselves make-up dates from a string of cancellations in March, due to the bout of strep throat that plagued Avey Tare (David Portner). The frontman appeared lively and energetic when he performed here in Baltimore a month back as Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks. Animal Collective plans to reschedule the most recently cancelled dates as quickly as possible.
