Blood, Boobs and Beast: Don Dohler Documentary Comes to DVD

The late

spent a good deal of his life running around the Baltimore area with a movie camera, filming no-budget horror movies that went straight to video and, later, straight to DVD. Now fellow Maryland filmmaker

follows in Dohler's footsteps with

, his documentary on the life and work of Baltimore's foremost horror auteur.

is being released on DVD Feb. 24 by

, the 20th Century Fox of Z-movies.

and Dohler seem to be getting a little respect at last, at least as far as the DVD package goes. In addition to Kinhart's accomplished, affecting portrait of Dohler (including interviews with the likes of

Lost

's J.J. Abrams and make-up wizard Tom Savini), the two-disc set also includes Dohler's 1982 movie

plus what Kinhart describes in an e-mail as "audio commentaries with the filmmakers, hilarious deleted scenes, trailers, and other extras." The set is already available for pre-order from
