Tonight appears to be wine tasting night.

(604 S. Exeter St., [410] 576-0444) is hosting a Malbec tasting from 6-8 p.m., featuring samples of this Argentinian red that is known for its dark, smoky, spicy flavor. Malbecs are all the rage right now, so get your education in this hot grape for $29-though you know you're going to buy a bottle, too, so factor that into your budget.

Get some additional Argentinian tipples at the

(3601 Elm Ave., (410) 467-7777) tonight from 5-7 p.m. with wines from the country's Bodegas Catena Zapata, presented by the vineyard's manager Alberto Benenati. We're betting there will be more Malbec-y goodness here, and this tasting is free.

If that isn't enough vino for you, you can spend the whole weekend feting Bacchus at

(noon-6 p.m., May 16-17, Symphony Woods, Columbia, [410] 313-7275). There will be music and balloon sculptures and funnel cakes, but also samples of wines from a ton of local wineries. Designated driver highly recommended, 'cause we know you're not spitting that wine out after it tickles your palette.
