, a new "Chesapeake inspired" restaurant in Greenwich Village, takes its name from the Eastern Shore waterway and its menu (loosely) from Maryland cuisine. In place of rockfish, there's arctic char, which—recent snow craziness notwithstanding—isn't native here. Neither is Tuscan kale or bistro steak, for that matter. The crab soup is cream-based, and though braised octopus with pepper confit sounds nice, it's not something you're likely to find at Lexington Market.
The new establishment did give New York City's restaurant reviewers a chance to make the usual Baltimore references. Both

going so far as to quote Snoop. Avon Barksdale, Stringer Bell, John Waters, and Cal Ripken make appearances as well, though none are asked their opinion on the rock shrimp taco with cumin-lime slaw.
