Murder Ink: 2 murders this week, 311 murders this year

Baltimore went nearly a week without a homicide, something it hasn't done since March.

4:05 a.m. Julio Trujillo, a 29-year-old Hispanic man, was on the 600 block of South Monroe Street when someone shot him. Medics got him to a hospital where he died shortly thereafter.

Sunday, Nov. 29

2:14 p.m. Marvin Mclain, a 23-year-old African-American man, was shot to death on the 2000 block of Denison Street, where the Walbrook neighborhood borders Mount Holly. He was pronounced dead by medics on the scene. Mclain had resided on the 500 block of Winston Avenue, according to police.


On Nov. 19, a man was shot to death on the 2600 block of West Fairmount Street. He has since been identified as Dwayne Wheeler, a 44-year-old African-American man, who had resided on the 300 block of North Carrolton Avenue.

On Nov. 21, a man was killed on the 1500 block of School Street where three other people were also shot. He has since been identified as Levy Butler, a 28-year-old African-American man from the 2000 block of Ashton Street.

On Nov. 24, a 17-year-old Renaissance Academy student was stabbed multiple times and left "fighting for his life," police said. The 17-year-old accused of stabbing the victim inside the West Baltimore high school has been charged as an adult, Baltimore police said. The incident took place in a third-floor classroom around noon Tuesday and the victim remains in critical condition at a Baltimore hospital after undergoing surgery, according to police.
