Five more murders this week, including a triple shooting in broad daylight. Police also made arrests in two previous murders.

Tuesday, November 3


1:10 p.m. Antonio Madeam, a 33-year-old African-American man, was on the 1800 block of Ruxton Avenue, two blocks from his home on the 1600 block, when someone shot him. He was taken to Shock Trauma, where he lingered for five days before dying on Nov. 8. Police have a photo of three men who they are seeking to identify in relation to this investigation.

Wednesday, November 9

9:15 p.m. Dorcell Talley, a 27-year-old African-American man, was on the 2900 block of Cherryland Road in Cherry Hill when someone shot him in the back more than once. He was taken to a hospital, and died at about 10 p.m. Police say the shooting stemmed from a fight. Talley had resided on the 1100 block of Edmondson Avenue.

11:10 p.m. Dominique Payne, a 23-year-old African-American man, was on the 4400 block of Frederick Avenue in Irvington when someone shot him multiple times in the body. He died. Payne was the third person murdered in Irvington so far this year.

Friday, November 11

11:30 a.m. Shyhiem Brown, a 19-year-old African-American man, was on the 800 block of W. Lexington Street when someone shot him and two other men standing with him. Brown died. The other two men are expected to survive. Brown resided on the 200 block of Mason Court. He was the fifth person killed in Poppleton this year.

9:55 p.m. Lloyd Jones, a 26-year-old African-American man, was found lying on the 100 block of Jeffrey Street with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died soon after at Shock Trauma. He had resided on the 3900 block of 8th Street in Brooklyn, about seven blocks from where he was killed.


Police have arrested three men for the Aug. 7, 2015 murder of Christopher Giles, a 24-year-old African-American man. On Oct. 28, they arrested Joseph Davis, a 25-year-old African-American man, of the 2100 block of Barclay Street, and Antone Murray, a 25-year-old African-American man of the 300 block of Kentucky Avenue. On Nov. 9 they also charged Devin Lee, a 25-year-old African-American man, with Giles' murder. All three men were held without bail in Central Booking.

On Nov. 5, police arrested Sterlyn Butcher, a 21-year-old African-American man, of the 3900 block of McDowell Lane, and charged him with the Nov. 4 murder of Frederick Tindall, an 18-year-old African-American man.
