Murder Ink: 5 murders this week, 116 murders this year

Along with six murders, there were nine reported non-fatal shootings, and police officers shot a man who they say shot at them on May 31. Once again, the police also confiscated numerous illegal guns. There were 123 murders in Baltimore as of June 6 last year.

Friday, June 3


12:25 a.m. Police called for a home invasion robbery on the 900 block of Allendale Street found a 42-year-old woman, Larese Bowser, shot in the neck outside the house. She was dead. Police believe Bowser lived in the house and tried to run from the robbers, who shot her. Police say they think Bowser was targeted by the robbers, who came looking for drugs and money.

9:10 p.m. Kareem Samuel, a 27-year-old African-American man, was on the 700 block of N. Monroe Street when someone shot him several times. He died shortly after that in a hospital. Samuel had lived on the 600 block of Montpelier Street, about four miles away from where he was killed.

Saturday, June 4

1:15 a.m. Aaron Vaughn, a 27-year-old African-American man, was shot in the upper body while on the 200 block of N. Fremont Avenue in Poppleton. He died soon after at a hospital. Vaughn had resided about two blocks away on the 700 block of W. Saratoga Street, according to police.

Monday, June 6

3:45 a.m. Jordan Hill, a 23-year-old man, was shot in the head and torso, and a 22-year-old man was also hit while they were on the 1500 block of Spruce Street. Police found them there. Both victims were taken to a hospital where Hill was pronounced dead. The 22-year-old died soon after. Police have not yet publicly identified the second victim.


The man killed on May 26 near the intersection of Bond and East Oliver Streets was Dante Williams, a 44-year-old African-American man. The man killed the same day on the 2700 block of The Alameda was Brian Banks, a 20-year-old African-American man.
