As Baltimore marks the one-year anniversary of the uprisings that followed the death of Freddie Gray in police custody, the murder count remains stubbornly above last year's record killing rate. Seven homicides this week put Baltimore seven murders ahead of where the city was last year at this time.
Monday, April 18
1:45 p.m. Delmeko Green, a 20-year-old African-American man, was on the 1200 block of Bonaparte Avenue, in the East Baltimore-Midway neighborhood, when someone shot him multiple times. He resided on the 1600 block of Montpelier Street.
Tuesday, April 19
1:00 a.m. Theodore Bush, a 41-year-old Caucasian man with no fixed address, was on the 3600 block of Esther Place in the Baltimore Highlands neighborhood when someone shot him. A police officer who was patrolling the unit block of N. Conkling Street found him.
7:30 a.m. Markee Brown, an African-American man just a few weeks shy of his 20th birthday, was on the 4000 block of Wilsby Avenue when someone shot him in the neck. He died soon after. Police say Brown lived on the 700 block of E. 41st Street, a few blocks from where he fell in the Pen Lucy neighborhood.
Friday, April 22
7:54 p.m. Two people were shot on the 3400 block of Reisterstown Road in the Park Circle neighborhood. Nathan Walker, a 25-year-old African-American man, died at a hospital shortly thereafter. He had lived about one block away. The other man walked into a hospital and is expected to survive. Police had arrested Walker on January 25 and charged him and another man with carrying two guns in their vehicle on the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road. The charges were filed in Circuit Court earlier on the same day that he was killed.
Sunday, April 24
7:17 p.m. Demetrius Little, a 23-year-old African-American man, was on the 1400 block of E. Fayette Street, when gunmen approached him and shot him multiple times. Little ran, and collapsed on the 200 block of Douglas Court, where police found him. Little died in the hospital soon after. Little had resided on the 2600 block of E. Madison Street, according to court records.
10:35 p.m. Deallen Jones, a 36-year-old African-American man, was on the 1400 block of Myrtle Avenue in Upton when someone shot him multiple times in the body and head. Police found him on the grass. He died there while the officer tried to save him with CPR.
Monday, April 25
12:55 a.m. A 44-year-old man who police have not yet identified publicly was in a car on Jefferson Street when someone shot him multiple times. The man drove his car into a parked car on the 2500 block of Jefferson Street, in the McElderry Park neighborhood. He died soon after at a hospital.
The man shot to death on April 16 near the 1500 block of Washington Boulevard in Carroll Park was Curtis Fleming, a 22-year-old African-American man.
