Rizzo, Jackson among Cubs cuts

MESA, Ariz.--Top prospects Anthony Rizzo and Brett Jackson were among the cuts Friday at Chicago Cubs camp, although both hope their stay in the minors is short-lived.

"You're always disappointed," said Rizzo of the demotion. "This is my third time doing this. I came in and had a pretty good spring."

The big first baseman hit .364 with two homers and five RBI in 14 games, with a .962 OPS.

Jackson, an ourfielder, hit .276 with two homers and seven RBI in 15 games. His OPS was .986.

"I played as well as expected," he said. "I knocked on the door and I'll keep trying to force their hand."

Jackson's last hit Thursday was a monster home run to center field in Surprise.

"Went out with a bang, right?" he laughed. "They always say you;re only as good as your last at-bat."
