A New York break for Jonathan Berry

Jonathan Berry, one of the Chicago theater's most promising young directors, has scored a Gotham gig.

Berry, whose superb production of "Festen" finally closes this weekend at the Steep Theatre, will direct Andrew Hinderaker's "Suicide, Incorporated" in the Roundabout Theatre Company's Underground series.

Berry replaces Jason Moore, who has pulled up to direct the movie "Pitch Perfect." "Suicide, Incorporated" premiered at the Gift Theatre in Jefferson Park with Berry as the original Chicago director. The New York production will open Nov. 2. Berry is still slated to direct "Spring Awakening" at the Griffin Theatre in December.
