The Rockford IceHogs, the Chicago Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate, will have a new head coach next season.
Bill Peters, who was the IceHogs' coach the last three seasons, signed a three-year contract Friday to be an assistant coach to Mike Babcock on the Detroit Red Wings' staff.
"Bill has been a great teacher and a valuable resource in the development of our many prospects in Rockford the last three seasons," Hawks Vice President and General Manager Stan Bowman said. "I want to thank him for his dedication to the growth of the Blackhawks organization and certainly wish him well in Detroit."
Meanwhile, the NHLPA announced arbitration hearing dates with the Hawks' Viktor Stalberg scheduled for July 20 and Chris Campoli's is on August 3.
