A small fire hit EJ's Place in Skokie this morning, forcing the closure of part of Skokie Boulevard.
A small portion of the restaurant's exterior siding caught on fire, according to Skokie fire department Deputy Chief Barry Liss. The fire damaged a small section of that siding, as well as a small patch on the roof.
The Skokie fire department arrived on the scene at about 10:17 a.m., and had the fire under control by about 10:30 a.m., Liss said. The fire never spread to the interior.
