Downers Grove man shot on West Side

Someone shot out the back window of a car being driven by a Downers Grove man on the West Side early this morning, wounding him in the back.

Four other men, including the 18-year-old brother of the driver, were in the car but no one else was hurt, police said.

The group was traveling on the 2800 block of West Lexington Street at 2:40 a.m. when a gunman fired four or five shots that went through the back driver's side window of the 2004 Volkswagen Passat, police said.

The driver was wounded in the back and continued to drive to Rush University Medical Center, where he was treated, police said.

A motive was not known and the five men were being "uncooperative" with investigators, police said. The shooter was not in custody.
