Divers recovered a body in the Chicago River this afternoon on the Near West Side.
Paramedics and divers responded at 1:20 p.m. to the river off Roosevelt Road and Lumber Street, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
The victim was "obviously deceased'' and was recovered from the waters, Langford said.
The unidentified woman, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead at 3:56 p.m. at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Police News Affairs spokeswoman Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said the woman was "unresponsive" when taken to the hospital.
