Two separate crashes snarled traffic this afternoon on the outbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway between the 87th and 95th street exits, police said.
The first single-vehicle crash happened about 1:35 p.m. near 87th Street, but no one was injured, according to an Illinois State Police trooper.
The second crash, involving seven vehicles, happened about 1:50 p.m. near 95th Street, the trooper said.
In that crash, four people were injured and taken to area hospitals. Two people were reported in serious-to-fair condition and the others in fair-to-good condition, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight.
There was no immediate information available about the genders or ages of the injured.
As of 3:15 p.m., all outbound lanes were open to traffic.
