Senate Pres. Miller: O'Malley's budget doesn't boost fees for wind, transportation projects

Gov. Martin O'Malley will brief reporters today on his fiscal 2014 budget proposal, but Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller this morning said the proposal is modest, and does not contain increases in fees or taxes to promote off-shore wind energy or transportation projects.

There will be a number of transportation infrastructure projects, Miller said.

"He is going to push strongly on a lot of capital projects because it means jobs," Miller said.

Miller said the budget is only marginally larger than the $35.9 billion budget unveiled a year ago.

"It is a very well thought-out, balanced budget," Miller said.

"We have less state employees employed by the state than any time in the last 27 years," Miller said.
