NAVY MEN'S BASKETBALL:
Navy's Brandon Venturini was named the Navy Athlete of the Week for his effort in Navy's game against Lafayette last weekend.
Venturini, a 6-foot sophomore guard, tallied a career-high 23 points and grabbed three rebounds in the Mids' 64-47 loss to the Leopards. He connected on eight of 17 shots, including seven of 15 from 3-point range to lead Navy's offense.
NAVY INDOOR TRACK:
Pole vaulter Mark Vetere and sprinter Austin Batiste have received Patriot League Track and Field weekly honors. Vetere was named the Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week and Batiste is the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.
The duo helped Navy take first place at the in a five-team meet on Saturday as the Mids bested VCU, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Mount St. Mary's and American.
Vetere won the pole vault with an indoor personal best height of 16-4¾.
Batiste was a double-winner at the meet, winning the 200 meters (21.91) and the 400 meters (48.99).
NAVY LACROSSE:
Decorated goalie Mickey Jarboe and three-time All-American Pete Taylor are among the 10 men and women who will be inducted into the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Saturday. In addition to Jarboe and Taylor, this year's hall of fame class include Jennifer Breakey, Kara Carlin, Megan Clark, Tricia Dabrowski, Bob Martino, Lorne Smith, Rick Wey and Suzanne Williams.
The induction ceremony will be held at the Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
WASHINGTON WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:
Elizabeth Snyder's putback with one second left lifted host Franklin & Marshall (6-9) to a 50-49 victory over Washington College (7-8).
Latisha Pledger led Washington College with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
MCDANIEL WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:
McDaniel missed its first 10 shots and never recovered in a 64-35 Centennial Conference loss to Gettysburg.
Brittney Davis led the Green Terror (6-8, 3-7 CC) with six points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
