Kevin Dayhoff

Kevin Dayhoff writes about history and current events for the Carroll County Times. He is a Carroll County native, artist, retired farmer, and former appointed and elected official. Over the years Kevin has written for a number of publications, including the Baltimore Sun, The Advocate, and most recently the Carroll Eagle. In 2009 he won a MDDC Press Association award for editorial critical thinking. He volunteers for the Westminster Vol. Fire Department as the public information office and chaplain. He lives in Westminster with his wife Caroline.
Dayhoff: Stretch of Md. 75 to be dedicated to fallen local hero, Russel Milberry

Russel Milberry is a native son of Carroll County who is an American hero. He was a medical corpsman assigned to the 362nd Medical Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam.

Dayhoff: Westminster Police Department, with 200 years of history, adds six new officers

The first historic reference to public safety in Westminster is found in Article Five of Westminster’s first Acts of Incorporation, which passed Feb. 5, 1819. The first recorded “Constable” was William Grumbine, appointed on June 20, 1839. Constables were paid 33 ½ cents for every person apprehended.
