Jim oversees the news department. He came to the Times in May, 1997, from the Times-News in Burlington, NC, where he was the city editor. Previous to that, he served as day editor at The Daily Star in Oneonta, NY, and as reporter then editor of The Wayne Independent in Honesdale, Pa. He received a BA in journalism from The Pennsylvania State University in 1987, and an MA in journalism and Public Affairs from American University in 2000. He lives in Manchester.
It's hard to ignore the irony of the country hotly debating the merits and drawbacks of so-called religious freedom laws the same week that Christians everywhere are honoring Jesus, whose ultimate act of giving was to die on the cross for our sins.
