West Carroll: Taneytown Heritage and History Museum Association to hold March meeting

The Taneytown Heritage and History Museum Association is busy putting together its 2019 display titled “World War II Impacts Hometown.”

To that end, the association is looking for volunteers to help get the museum and grounds ready for the April 7 opening. A spring cleanup is scheduled for March 23 at the museum. Should there be inclement weather, the rain date is March 30.

The museum is also looking for greeters. For more information, call Pam at 410-984-2427 or email her at pamireed@gmail.com.

The monthly meeting of the Heritage and History Museum Association is scheduled for Monday, March 25, at 7 p.m. at Grace United Church of Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., in the parish hall.

After a short business meeting, the guest speaker will be Christine Lurk, a well-known World War II historian and collector affectionately known as “Miss Victory.” Lurk will discuss in detail what life was like at home during World War II. In addition to her historian status, Lurk served as a member of the Military Police with the Army Security Agency in Berlin.

Light refreshments will be served. Meetings are free and open to all members of the community. Parking is available at the back of the church. Handicap parking is on Cemetery Road.
