The annual Sykesville Harvest Festival will be celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 14, and everyone in the community and those outside of the town can enjoy the shops around Main Street, live entertainment, and many crafts and food vendors.
Julie Della-Maria, one of the coordinators of this event, stated, in an email interview, that this event is organized by Downtown Sykesville Connection to “give back” to the community that supports the organization every year in each of their events.
“The DSC [Downtown Sykesville Connection] and its sponsors are thrilled to welcome on Main Street friends and family for a day of free entertainment, demos, activities, and togetherness,” stated Della-Maria.
Every year, many people attend the Harvest Fest because of the more than 50 craft and food vendors. They also have live entertainment and a free kids zone, with different activities for the kids.
All of the local businesses will be able to showcase their products and the attendees will have the opportunity to purchase fresh produce from the Farmers Market.
Throughout the fest, the fire company, police, the Public Works department, and the Town of Sykesville will be hosting different activities for the community.
Also, they will be hosting the Chili Cook Off contest this year and those interested may visit the Downtown Sykesville Connection’s website, www.sykesvillemainstreet.com, to register and there, they can print out all of the forms and mail it with a $15 check to secure their participation in the contest.
The Chili Cook Off contest is sponsored by S&K Roofing, Siding, and Windows.
The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. Admission is free and no pets are allowed.
The Harvest Fest is brought to you by Paul Mackenzie, Realtor, Stratosphere Trampoline Park, and Merritt Athletic Clubs.
