Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association says it has outfitting deal with Under Armour

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, a Division II athletic conference in Mid-Atlantic and Southern states, says it has signed a deal for its member schools’ teams to be outfitted exclusively by Under Armour.

The CIAA posted the announcement on Twitter and its website. It said the agreement begins July 1.

An Under Armour spokesperson confirmed the signing.

Founded in 1912, the conference bills itself as “the first African American athletic conference.”

The North Carolina-based conference’s members are: Bowie State, Chowan, Elizabeth City State, Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, Livingstone College, Saint Augustine's, Shaw, Virginia State, Virginia Union and Winston-Salem State.

The association said the Under Armour partnership will be coordinated by BSN Sports, a Dallas-based distributor of team sports apparel.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The conference said “special online purchase opportunities” will given to CIAA-member alumni, fans, students and parents to purchase gear.
