Under Armour turns Sunday’s Super Bowl MVP into a Paul Bunyan-esque figure in video

In a video thick with Boston accents and backdrops, Under Armour turned Sunday’s Super Bowl MVP  into a Paul Bunyan-esque figure

The release of the video, called  “The Legend of Tom Brady,” was timed for the big game.

“I witnessed Tom Brady throw a football all the way across the Boston Harbor. I was there – I saw it with my own two eyes,” says a Bostonian at the  video’s start.

“Every kid in Dorchester legally has to be named Tom or Brady. The girls, too,” says a woman in a bar.

Brady, 39, led the New England Patriots  to a Super Bowl victory Sunday, erasing a 25-point deficit.

The quarterback was originally signed by Under Armour in 2010. His wife, model Gisele Bundchen, is also an endorser for the Baltimore-based apparel, footwear and fitness technology company.

“The film is a montage of New England’s biggest fans speaking to Brady's many incredible exploits,” says a news release promoting the tongue-in-cheek video, which was accessible through Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Under Armour has been selling Brady-endorsed sleepwear.  He was previously part of the brand's “Rule Yourself” campaign along with golfer Jordan Spieth, NBA star Stephen Curry and ballet dancer Misty Copeland.

Another Under Armour star – Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton – was featured in a Super Bowl commercial on Sunday playing footall with kids.

The ad was for Buick. But Under Armour says it supplied products, and the company’s logo appears prominently during the spot.
