STX signs endorsement deal with former Hopkins lax star

Baltimore sports equipment company STX LLC said Thursday it signed former Johns Hopkins lacrosse star Tucker Durkin, now a defenseman for the Florida Launch, to a two-year endorsement deal.

Terms were not disclosed. In the past week, STX announced agreements to supply the men's national team for three years and serve as the official equipment provider for Major League Lacrosse for one year.

The company, which got its start in 1970 with the introduction of the first synthetic lacrosse stick head, also produces gear for field hockey and golf. In January, it announced deals with the National Hockey League and USA Hockey, the sports amateur governing body, and said it would start selling ice hockey equipment this spring.

Durkin, a two-time winner of the national William C. Schmeisser Award for defensive playing and the third overall pick in the 2013 MLL draft, issued a tweet about the signing Thursday.

"So excited to hop on board with such a great company — grew up using @TizzleSTX and pumped to keep it goin!" he wrote.
