Luxury apartments open at Owings Mills Metro Centre

Baltimore County officials gathered at the Metro Centre of Owings Mills on Thursday to mark the opening of the transit-oriented development's first luxury apartment buildings.

The Metro Crossing apartments feature 232 units and amenities such as a fitness center and rooftop pool with barbecues. There are one- and two-bedroom floor plans ranging from 700 to 1,245 square feet, with rents starting at $1,580 a month.

The ground floors of the two apartment buildings will be occupied by retail.

Eventually, the development next to the Metro station is scheduled to include 1,700 residential units, more than 1 million square feet of offices, and 300,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

The Metro Centre, managed by David S. Brown Enterprises, also is home to the county's largest library branch and a new community college center.
