Assuming you've burned off enough calories at free yoga and fitness classes, here's a special treat: Friday, June 3 is National Doughnut Day! And some companies plan to mark the occasion with promotions.

Dunkin' Donuts is offering a free doughnut with drink purchase while supplies last. Bottled beverages displayed in the store's cooler don't qualify, actually, so plan to get something at the counter. Customers are also encouraged to follow @DunkinDonuts on Twitter, with hints that more prizes may be available.

Krispy Kreme will also give away free doughnuts on Friday, June 3 --- any variety. No purchase is necessary, according to the company's news release. Here's the bad news: according to Krispy Kreme's store locator, the closest options are in Rockville, Washington and Alexandria.

This dates back to 1938, commemorating when Salvation Army women volunteers would fry doughnuts for soldiers in their helmets. It was since used as a fundraiser for the organization.

UPDATED AGAIN: Every Dunkin' Donuts location nationwide is participating in the free-doughnut-with-drink-purchase promotion, but the online store locator is down this morning, according to a Dunkin' Donuts spokeswoman.
