Maryland's two casinos bring in $13 million in March

Maryland's two casinos generated $13 million in revenue last month, a slight uptick from February, the state lottery announced Tuesday.

Hollywood Casino Perryville brought in $9.8 million in March, up from $9 million in February.

The Casino at Ocean Downs on the Eastern Shore generated $3.3 million last month, up from $3.1 million in February.

Since the opening of the Perryville and Ocean Downs in September and January, respectively, the two casinos have generated $63.6 million. Of that total, nearly 49 percent, or $30.8 million, has been set aside for the state's education trust fund.

The casinos get a 33 percent cut, while the remaining money is split among various state interests, including horse racing purses, capital improvement funds for race tracks, local and county governments, small, minority and women-owned businesses and the Maryland Lottery, which oversees the casinos.
