These are just a sampling of some of the companies that warned consumers this week that their email addresses may have been compromised through Epsilon Data Management, which provides online mail services.

The companies are warning consumers that only their email addresses and possibly names would have been exposed. Still, people should be on the lookout for more spam and vigilant against potentially more phishing attempts.

Epsilon says in a statement on its website that it is investigating, but according to the Los Angeles Times story would not state how many customers were affected.

Other affected companies include JPMorgan Chase & Co., Kroger Co., TiVo Inc., Best Buy Co., Walgreen Co. and Capital One Financial Corp., according to the LAT.

UPDATED: I meant to mention earlier that this is another good reason to use a secondary email address that you use to register for store newsletters and things. You can check it when you're going shopping but otherwise keep your main inbox free of spam.
