Annapolis-based TeleCommunication Systems Inc. said Friday that it received $7.1 million in additional revenue from the U.S. Army for maintenance of Internet and satellite-based communications systems that have been deployed outside the country. TCS' communications systems - which handle encrypted voice, video and data - are being used by the U.S. military in war zones. The funding from the Army is part of the agency's $5 billion worldwide contract for maintaining satellite-based communications, according to TCS.
