The Community College of Baltimore County in Baltimore will get a $4.9 million grant to offer nursing and other health care training to potential workers who are unemployed, disadvantaged or low income, part of a $225 million federal stimulus package announced Friday.
The U.S. Department of Labor directed the grants toward training programs at community colleges, community-based organizations, state workforce agencies and other public entities. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grants are designed to offer training that will lead to jobs in a range of health care fields.
The package announced Wednesday is part of nearly $750 million in competitive grant funding through the Labor Department and marks the sixth and final round of competitive employment grants through the Recovery Act.
