If all you want for Christmas is a bit of free parking at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, consider your wish list fulfilled.

Officials at the Anne Arundel County airport on Thursday announced that between Nov. 15 and Jan. 15, those picking up or dropping off loved ones will be able to park in the airport's hourly garage for up to 30 minutes for free.

The second 30 minutes will cost $2.

Officials called the change a "holiday gift" for customers.

"With the start of the peak holiday travel season, we want to ensure the highest level of service and convenience for our customers," said Paul J. Wiedefeld, the airport's CEO, in a statement. "Parking in the Hourly Garage will help motorists avoid the busy terminal roadway when coming to BWI Marshall to pick-up or drop-off family members or friends."

The busy holiday season often leaves congestion on terminal roadways and sometimes even on the side of Interstate 195, where people hoping to quickly scoop waiting fliers without parking sometimes idle.

The hourly garage is adjacent to the terminal and connected to it.
