NASA hired Baltimore company Dvorak LLC to upgrade electrical systems at its Wallops Flight Facility on the Delmarva peninsula.
The space agency is paying the company $5.1 million to improve the systems in Wallops' North Island buildings, as well as to install conduits for future expansion of a fiber optic network. The contract includes an option for an additional $427,000 in work.
Dvorak is an electrical contractor based in Rosedale.
The Wallops facility is just south of the Maryland line in Virginia. It was the site of a rocket explosion in October, and damage to repair that launch pad is expected to take a year.
