BGE delays start of Russell St. work for a week

Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. said Thursday that it will close lanes on Russell Street and nearby city roads beginning Oct. 14 rather than Monday to move underground utilities, work it said is needed to accommodate construction of the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore.

BGE said its work on Russell Street between Haines and Worcester streets will "continue in segments" through July, scheduled Monday through Saturday outside of rush-hour stretches and suspended during games and other events at M&T Bank Stadium.

The company will be closing lanes in both directions, including center lanes. BGE said it will also work on Haines, Bayard, Worcester and Warner streets.
