UMBC team got special delivery of newest Stephen Curry basketball shoe

Stephen Curry, Under Armour’s top basketball ambassador, sent UMBC’s team a surprise shipment of his latest shoe model after the 16th-seeded Retriever’s victory over top-seeded Virginia.

UMBC may be a mid-major college basketball team but it has something in common with the Golden State Warriors superstar — both are Under Armour endorsers.

Each player received a Curry 5 shoe over the weekend in the “Pi Day” colorway.

On March 14, the Baltimore-based brand release 314 pairs — they sell for $130 — of the shoe in a special color pattern.

“Pi” is a math reference marking the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — 3.14.

March 14th was also Curry’s 30th birthday.
