Shoppers at Nordstrom in Towson now can reserve items online and try them on at the store.
The Seattle-based department store chain said Thursday it has expanded its "Reserve Online & Try In Store" feature from six stores in Washington state to 40 stores in the U.S., including in Maryland at Towson Town Center and at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda.
Customers who download Nordstrom's mobile app can select items online and try them on at a store. After choosing the option from a product's detail page, customers will be notified by text when the items are ready.
"Many of our customers like to feel and try on clothes and shoes before they purchase them, and we're excited to offer them a more convenient way to do so," Shea Jensen, Nordstrom's senior vice president of customer experience, said in a statement.
The retailer tested the service in six stores last fall and found that 80 percent of shoppers using the feature continued to use it. Nordstrom already offers buying online with store pickup, curbside pickup, and a scan-and-shop mobile app feature.
