Most major malls and stores will open at some point on Thanksgiving, giving shoppers a head start on Black Friday, the traditional kick-off for the holiday shopping season.

Here’s a rundown on Thanksgiving and Black Friday hours at major area stores and malls:

Walmart: Most stores open all day today. In-store event starts at 6 p.m. today. Normal business hours Friday.

Target: 6 p.m.-midnight today. All stores open at 6 a.m. and close at 10, 11 p.m. or midnight on Friday.

Kohls: 5 p.m. today to midnight Friday.

Best Buy: 5 p.m.-1 a.m. today. 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.

Toys R Us: 5 p.m. today through 11 p.m. Friday.

JCPenney: 2 p.m. today through 10 p.m. Friday.

Sears at Security Square Mall, White Marsh Mall, The Mall in Columbia: 6 p.m.-midnight today; Marley Station: 4 p.m.-midnight today. All stores, 5 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.

Macy’s in Towson Town Center, Security Square, Marley Station: 5 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday; Columbia, White Marsh: 5 p.m. today to 10 p.m. Friday.

Dick’s Sporting Goods: 6 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Friday. 5 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.

The Mall in Columbia: 6 p.m. today to 10 p.m. Friday.

White Marsh Mall: 6 p.m.-midnight today; 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.

Towson Town Center: 6 p.m.-midnight today; 6 a.m .-10 p.m. Friday.

Arundel Mills: 6 p.m. today to 1 a.m. Friday; 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.

Annapolis Mall: 6 p.m.-midnight today; 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.

Eastpoint Mall: Closed Thanksgiving; 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.

Marley Station Mall: Closed Thanksgiving; 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday.
