Janney Montgomery Scott has become the first tenant to sign on at Stadium Square, a development of offices, stores and apartments in South Baltimore.

The financial services company plans to move into the first completed office building, at 145 W. Ostend St., by the end of the summer, developer Caves Valley Partners said Friday.

Janney's first downtown Baltimore office will be part of an expansion in Maryland, said Tom Simcik, a regional manager for the firm.

Stadium Square stretches over three city blocks between Federal Hill and M&T Bank Stadium and sits just west of Cross Street Market.

The project's first luxury apartment building, the 299-unit Hanover Cross Street, is signing leases and will open early next month. The apartments are the first of about 650 units to be built.

The developer said it is negotiating leases with several prospective tenants and plans to announce additional lease signings in the coming months.
