Continuing to expand its service out of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Spirit Airlines announced Friday that it will begin offering one flight a day to and from Houston next March.
Houston will become the seventh market served by Spirit from BWI. The low-fare carrier, based in Miramar, Fla., relocated its service to BWI from Reagan National Airport in September 2012.
At the time it only served Fort Lauderdale and Dallas/Fort Worth. It has since added Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Portland, Oregon, and Las Vegas, with some of the service being seasonal.
"We welcome the added service from Spirit Airlines," said Paul J. Wiedefeld, BWI's CEO. "Spirit has added new flights and new markets since launching its service at BWI Marshall in 2012. The airline continues to offer low fares and more travel options for our passengers."
The service to and from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport starts March 27.
