SparkPost, a Columbia-based emailing firm, relocated to a new office across the street, doubling its space in anticipation of expanding its employment from around 85 people to 200.
The company provides email delivery services to customers including Comcast, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter and Zillow, sending more than three trillion emails a year.
SparkPost moved to the new two-story office building with 29,665 square feet of space at 9160 Guilford Road in Columbia from a 13,900-square-foot space across the street.
The company said it would allow it to grow its workforce to as many as 200 people in coming years.
Gov. Larry Hogan and Howard County Executive Allan Kittleman joined SparkPost CEO Phillip Merrick in cutting a ribbon Thursday afternoon to mark to move.
"This is an exciting time for SparkPost and its employees in Maryland, who will all benefit from the opportunities this expansion presents," Merrick said in a statement. "With offices around the globe, SparkPost is thrilled to double down on Maryland and continue to build its team in Howard County."
SparkPost, also based in San Francisco, first opened an office in Maryland in 2008.
