Expanding its roster of international destinations, Southwest Airlines is adding international service between BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport and Liberia, Costa Rica.

The new weekly nonstop flights, Southwest's second Costa Rica route, will begin Nov. 7, airport officials said Thursday. Southwest started flying to San Jose, Costa Rica, in March, and it plans to begin flights to Los Cabos, Mexico, in June.

"As Southwest continues its international expansion at BWI Marshall, our passengers are enjoying new flight opportunities," Paul J. Wiedefeld, CEO for the airport, said in the announcement. "

With the new flights, Southwest will serve eight international destinations from BWI. International traffic has been growing at BWI, with the number of international passengers jumping 22 percent in the first three months of the year.

BWI recently started construction on the D/E Connector, which include a new security checkpoint, a new secure connector between those concourses and reconfigured gates.
