A Rite Aid drugstore will anchor the retail portion of the Remington Row apartment project in North Baltimore, which also will include a hair salon, an acupuncture treatment center and a dry cleaners, the developer said Thursday.

Those tenants will fill 90 percent of the retail space at the $40 million project and are expected to open by Sept. 1., Seawall Development Co. said.

Besides the 8,000-square-foot drugstore, tenants include Balance The Salon, which has leased 1,600 square feet; Mend Acupuncture, taking 1,600 square feet; and Remington Cleaners in a smaller space.

Seawall previously announced Johns Hopkins Community Physicians as the anchor office tenant of the 250,000-square foot project at 2700 Remington Ave. Johns Hopkins will lease 30,000 square feet on the building's second floor for internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics practices.

Thibault Manekin, a Seawall partner, said the project was striving to bring in goods and services that were missing from the Remington neighborhood. Another 2,000 square feet, a corner commercial space with 18-foot-high ceilings surrounded by glass, remains available, Manekin said.

The 108 apartments are 70 percent pre-leased, with residents expected to start moving in in July.

Apartments come in 15 floor plans with one-bedroom rents starting at $1,350 per month and two-bedroom units starting at $1,900 per month. Residents will have access to a 24-hour fitness center, bike storage, a car wash area and a concierge.
