One Baltimore security technology company has acquired another, with Optio Labs absorbing Oculis Labs and Oculis CEO Bill Anderson becoming an executive at Optio, the companies said Wednesday.
The companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal.
Oculis is known for products including Chameleon, which uses gaze-tracking technology to make a computer screen legible only to the user, and PrivateEye, which protects computer screens from unauthorized viewers. Anderson will join Optio Labs as chief product officer.
Optio officials said the acquisition gives it greater offerings for its customers, which include corporations, government agencies and wireless carriers.
"The award-winning product line developed by Dr. Anderson helps to expand our data security reach beyond mobile devices into laptops and desktops, solve the 'inside threat' problem, and give us a great end-to-end solution for potential customers," Optio Labs CEO Gregg Smith said in a statement.
Optio makes security products for federal agencies, businesses and device manufacturers. It has offices in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Nashville.
