Hunt Valley-based Millman Multimedia acquires a Dallas photo lab

Hunt Valley operator of photo-related businesses acquires a professional photo lab based in Dallas

Hunt Valley-based Millman Multimedia, which operates four photo-related companies, said Monday it has acquired Pounds Photographic Labs Inc., a professional photo lab based in Dallas.

Pounds, a more-than-40-year-old business with 74 employees, specializes in school, sports, wedding and portrait photography.

"The team there has done an outstanding job of building a strong presence in the school and sports photography markets, both of which are segments of the professional photography market within which we seek to grow in the future," said Ryan Millman, Millman Multimedia's founder and CEO, in Monday's announcement.

Millman Multimedia, started by Millman in 1999, operates Nations Photo Lab, a photo lab for professional photographers; Artsy Couture, which develops new, photo-related products for individuals and retailers; GreekYearbook, which has a network of photographers who work with fraternities and sororities on college campuses; and Greek Streak, which creates apparel for fraternities and sororities. The company has three manufacturing facilities in Maryland and Texas and employs more than 300 people.

Pounds will continue operating in Dallas under its current name. The sale, for an undisclosed amount, was finalized in January.
