Michael Kors closes Harborplace store

Michael Kors has closed its store at The Gallery at Harborplace in downtown Baltimore.

“It’s true — our Harbor Place store is closed,” the retailer’s website says. “But this isn’t goodbye, just a change of address.”

The website urges shoppers to visit another location or shop online. The designer apparel, handbag and accessories brand operates stores at Towson Town Center, The Mall in Columbia and Westfield Annapolis mall. It was unclear when the Gallery store at 200 E. Pratt St. closed.

The downtown Baltimore store opened in December 2013. In April 2015, the store suffered damage during the Baltimore riots after a window at the store was smashed and shoppers were evacuated.

This is the second recent closing of a key anchor and national chain at the Inner Harbor. Urban Outfitters closed its Harborplace store on Sunday.

Officials of General Growth Properties, the owner of The Gallery, could not be reached Wednesday.
