The spice maker said Wednesday a number of dairy free varieties of the bottles were incorrectly filled with taco seasoning containing whey. Some people can have an allergic reaction to milk that can cause hives, upset stomach, vomiting and, in rare cases, anaphylaxis.

McCormick said it received one notice of an allergic reaction related to the product.

The company asked grocery outlets to remove the bottles from store shelves and distribution centers and destroy the bottles.

Consumers do not need to return the product to the store but should throw it away. For a replacement or refund, customers should contact McCormick Consumer Affairs at 1-800-632-5847, weekdays.
