World Poker Tour coming to Maryland Live

The World Poker Tour is stopping in Maryland for the first time when Maryland Live, the state's largest casino, hosts a WPT event on Sept. 24-29.

The casino at Arundel Mills mall in Hanover said it expects to attract players from around the country.

"We're thrilled to partner with the WPT to bring one of the biggest poker tours in the country to the State of Maryland for the very first time," said Mike Smith, the casino's director of poker operations.

The stop includes a $3,500 buy-in for the main event.

In February and March, the World Series of Poker held a series of tournaments at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, drawing hundreds of players to the city.
