Labor Department grants $1.4 million to Baltimore for ex-inmate help

Baltimore will receive a $1.4 million grant this year from the U.S. Department of Labor to help former inmates return to their neighborhoods with opportunities in community service and education.

The grant is part of a package of $20 million in grants that the federal government is giving to 15 cities across the country through the Civic Justice Corps program. The grant is intended to help former inmates between the ages of 18 and 24. In Baltimore it will be administered by the mayor's office of employment.
