The U.S. Small Business Administration approved Gov. Larry Hogan's request for a "disaster declaration" for Baltimore, the governor announced Monday.
The move means the federal agency will offer low-interest loans to rebuild businesses and homes damaged by recent Baltimore riots and protests, Hogan said. Some non-profits, business owners, homeowners and others will be able to apply for the low-cost financing to fix damage from the civil unrest between April 25 and May 3.
Two outreach centers are scheduled to open Tuesday morning to help people determine whether they qualify for the loans, Hogan's office said.
The West Baltimore office will be at the Pennsylvania Avenue Branch of the Enoch Pratt Library at 1531 W. North Avenue, near the intersection of some of the worst destruction. The East Baltimore office will be at the Southeast Anchor Library at 3601 Eastern Avenue.
